⏰ 08:30 AM – Departure from Bukit Lawang to Batu Katak Meet your certified guide at your accommodation. We hop onto our local transport for a scenic 30-to-40-minute journey to Batu Katak, passing through beautiful local villages, lush countryside, and agricultural fields.
🌿 09:10 AM – Arrival & Expedition Briefing Arrive in the quiet, eco-friendly village of Batu Katak. Your local guide will give a brief overview of the area’s unique limestone (karst) geography and explain the strict protection guidelines for endangered tropical flora.
🥾 09:20 AM – The Botanical Jungle Hunt Begins We begin our trek, entering the dense canopy of the national park boundary. Your expert guide, who monitors the jungle daily, will lead you along hidden trails toward known blooming sites. Along the way, you will cross crystal-clear shallow streams and walk beneath massive rainforest trees.
🌸 10:15 AM – Witnessing the Giant Rafflesia Bloom Arrive at the location of the spectacular Rafflesia flower. Depending on the exact cycle, you will get to marvel at the massive, alien-like bloom (which can reach up to 1 meter in diameter) or see its unique cabbage-like buds preparing to open. Your guide will share fascinating facts about how this parasitic plant survives without roots, stems, or leaves. If lucky, we will also track down the towering Amorphophallus titanum.
🍍 11:15 AM – Fresh Tropical Fruit Break by the Stream Take a comfortable rest near a refreshing jungle stream. Relax to the sound of flowing water as your guide prepares and serves a vibrant platter of fresh, seasonal tropical fruits (sweet pineapples, bananas, and passion fruit).
🐒 11:45 AM – Flora & Fauna Exploration Continue our walk loop back toward the village. As we trek past the dramatic limestone cliffs, keep an eye out for local wildlife, including wild gibbons, Thomas's Leaf Monkeys, and rare tropical butterflies attracted to the jungle flora.
